Corona Virus And Bowling
From the LLB.
When we have been meeting to play bowls recently a lot of concerns have been expressed re the virus and as a start and a precautionary measure it was optional re shaking hands. However, things seem to be developing quickly and consideration given to our continuing to bowl for the time being. This has been put to the League Co-ordinators and some Officers of the LLB – and below is Bob’s response.
“Obviously the situation is serious and it is only likely to get worse. Whilst most advice is dependent on large numbers attending the sport and whether it is in the open where the chances of infection, we are an ageing group who are the most susceptible so my advice would be to cancel the summer leagues as they are due to start in the near future. However, I don’t see the problem being lessened in the near future so we must review future events as they come up.
Unfortunately none of us has a crystal ball, but perhaps it is better to err on the side of caution.
NORTHERN LEAGUE – a total of 18 matches should be played but as per the league table published 10th March some clubs still have 3 matches outstanding and along with the Winter League those outstanding
matches will not be played and the final league table will be as that published on 10th March.
CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS – is not due to take place until the 12th April and a decision will be made nearer the time.
